Hi folks

I have a 130tdi bora that is fitted as std with 288x25mm front brakes - pretty sure lots of ibiza's and leons also have them so this may be of interest to other people

There are numerous threads out there about this conversion, some people use different calipers and others use the original calipers just with new caliper carriers and disks. Obviously its an easier job if you dont have to change the calipers as you dont have to break into the fluid system.

Thread from Briskoda where calipers are being changed:

Kits of the type are available in many tuning companies that use original calipers:

Audi TT based kits from Golfturbo

Anyone know if there is an advantage to using the TT (or other as seen in Briskoda) calipers as they are different to those used on the 288mm cars

Cheers

Rob

Foxy was the first person on www.uk-mkivs.net to do the 312mm conversion and he used the original calipers.

I was under the impression that the calipers were the same on the Golf/Bora but not the same on the Ibiza.

I can cross ref the calipers at work for you if you PM me your reg.

Personally, I don't think upgrading the calipers will make any difference as they're all single piston units.

Used TT calipers on my Ibiza and the only difference I could see compared to Cupra brakes was that they were enamled satin black. The Leon CUpra/FR TDI only requires the carriers/pads/discs as the calipers are the same not sure with your Bora being the 130PD whether it would need the calipers changing or not but suspect so.

Not sure if this helps...but my Passat had the 288mm brakes, and the upgrade just needed new carriers & discs/pads - the calipers didn't need changing.
Finding the carriers was a challenge tho...cost me £90 from a breakers.
