That's a pretty 1/4 mile time considering I dount you're really near 160bhp with those mods.

My mate had Bic's old TB'd GTi lump in his 106, RR'd at 172bhp and that did the Pod in 14 flat. That engine had £1000s spent on it, and was an animal. :D

I think you'll find a Cupra a completely different driving experience to a 106. I had a 106 GTi before I bought my Cupra, used to the high reving 16v whereas in the Cupra it's all about the torque.

I'd go for a GT28RS turbo set up too over a hybrid k04, will get you to a genuine 280-300bhp which will be enough to see off a 240bhp Mini and Golf. ;)

thanks for the reply mate. i know there is alot of doubt as to achieing 160bhp with cams etc. but i'm not that bothered. aslong as it performs well on the road that's all i care about! i'm looking forward to getting a cupra, and as you say having a load of torque.

i think my good 1/4 mile time is down to my 2.00 60ft time :D

how much are you looking at for a GT28RS setup then?

thanks for the help.

So with an air filter your 60 time dropped about a second? I find that unlikely unless the car was seriously underestimated when new!

Why if the Ibiza is slower than a 106 do u want one?

You will be amased at how poorly desinged the standr 106 gti air filter is and the inlet manifold design.

Any way nick as you say 'but i'm not that bothered. aslong as it performs well on the road that's all i care about'

Then there is no point asking what a 270bhp can achieve, figures are generally for willy wavers i find! Whetehr they actually do it is another question alltogether.

There is alot of it going about atm must be the weather!

Willy Waving is no longer a sport for some people its a way of life lol!

Most driving is down to the driver not the car

because i will be taking the ibiza to around 270bhp hopefully. i know that will kill my 106! :D

Aaron - i know figures arent everything but it gives you an indication. and i know a 270bhp ibiza will be stupidly fast

Why not just buy a car that has 270bhp if your that fussed?

It would cost more to do the work than to buy a car with that power??

Not saying dont buy an Ibiza, but thats alot to ask from a car built to run 160 surely, im not slagging you off just not sure why you would want to do that

dunno really. a few fatcors i think. i like the look of the ibizas. i was gonna get a leon but there alot more money. also, a 279bhp is a bit of a sleeper i think you'll agrree! and insurance cost is another reason along with running costs. something like an EVO is gonna cost me alot to run, service and insure etc.

Very true! Altho depending on how old you are modifying will cost more than insuring a still faster car

I can insure an M3 Evo cheaper than declaring a remap on my insurance! lol

imo if you want 280bhp out of your ibiza you will have to go down the AM04/GT2x route, looking about 2.5k all in including mapping, labour etc ..

if your getting a GT28RS then why are you looking at 280bhp?? more like 400bhp with internals done, looking at 10k all in, without internals your looking at 340bhp which is IHI territory which will push approx 345bhp at approx 4k

if your worried about insurance, im sure a guy on here does it, someone said he was 21 with 240 odd bhp and he was paying 700 odd quid fully comp (cant remember the name of the insurer tho, do a search, it will be on here somewhere)

you will also need to spend money though on suspension, brakes (which in turn will mean wheels) possible a clutch depending on how far you want to take it, if you go balls out Gt28RS you will prob need a diff also othrewise the power will be useless, the £££'s just keep adding up :)

2.00 is a really good 60', you'd be lucky to get near that with an Ibiza, my best 60' with the K03 car was around 2.1 and that yeilded me a 14.48.

Don't forget a light car with not much torque will be much easier to launch than a torquey turbo car whith peaky torque delivery when remapped

thanks for the help guys.

i'm willing to spend around 2.5k like you say. what's the best setup for that sor tof money then? and what sort of power should i expect? i don't want to spend 10k on getting 400bhp. 250bhp+ will suit me.

including suspension, wheels, tyres, brakes, probably not alot

without them it will get you to 280bhp with a stage 2 AM04 from A+M (shockxe or addo on here) or a GT2x Eliminator from ATP which can be installed and mapped by star performance

so is it best to source all these parts myself then get them fitted and mapped? or will it work out just the same to take the car to someone like jabba and pay them to do it all? or don't they do that sort of thing?

thanks

jabba will do the jabba conversion (345bhp ihi @4k) i think they also do k03s (230-250bhp) but im not sure about that one, i defo know star performance do the GT2x kit and will also order it all for you

AM do the AM04 but its delivery only at the moment (hardware) think you have to get it fitted and mapped yourself, I think jabba will also do this as AM reccomend jabba for their labour and mapping, so in a word, yes (except GT2x from what iv heard)
