TBH i can quite beleive it, my brothers very midly modded VTS stays level with my Cupra untill 60mph ish.

im not being funny mate, im going from experience, from FACT

not just "yeah that sounds about right, i can believe that"

as said my mate has a 150 + VTS and that destroys me round the twisties, on the streight though is a different story, im not slaggin anyones car off, not saying which one is better, im going from FACT & Experience

i have 130 @ the wheels and 160 @ the flywheel. giving me a power to weight ratio of just over 185bhp per tonne. i can do a 5.9 0-60mph and a 14.4 1/4 mile. and your saying you think i would struggle with a 200bhp ibiza? i certainly don't think it would pull away?

besides i want to get one, so i'm not trying to slate them at all or start any arguments!

Sorry nick i dont believe it Bic who has possibly the quickest 106 gti only was managing 130bhp at the wheels and that was with around 15k spent on the engine!

But of course your more then welcome to prove me wrong :)

And i suppose im not going from FACT as my brother has said VTS. I can't vouch for this guys 106 but i KNOW my brothers VTS keeps with me until 60mph. FACT. With only an induction kit, exhaust system, deCAT and recent head skim & gasket.

Also like you say your car is modded more than mine, im only sitting on circa 220bhp/260ft/lbs.

160bhp @ 870kg = 0-60 6.03
0-100 15.68
935kg = 0-60 6.37
0-100 16.75

200bhp @ 1170kg = 0-60 6.34
0-100 16.10

All theory though.
So how have you got you 106 down to 870kg? It says standard weight is 935kg?

Well my car ran strong on VAG-COM but ive never taken it as writ! According to that im running about 168 for bhp and ft/lb

Quite easy to get abit out of a VTS, has he stripped it at all? Seen a few running 135bhp with only an exhaust and filter! lol

No its not stripped but dosnt have a lot in it. They are like tin cans anyway. I know he like pushing it hard too.

Well I would guess looking at the specs in ur sig that your probably pushing the equivilant of a well mapped stage 1 Ibiza if you take the weight into account would that be fair?

The difference is with an NA car you can push it into the red and it keeps going whereas with a turbo u peak and drop off, with a few well places gear changes a VTS hasnt caused an issue for me as yet.

stripped of rear seats, seat belts, carpets, sound deadening, spare wheel and jack, also aftermarket, manifold, exhaust and wheels are alot lighter than standard. i've had the car weighed on a weighbridge aswell.

i'm not going by theory either. i have raced a few 200bhp+ ibizas and it was close.

as for the comment about bics engine. i'm not sure but nearly all cammed and mapped VTS/GTi make 130 @ the wheels. maybe it isn't 100% accurate but i still run 14.4 1/4 miles all day.

a standard ibiza isn't even a race for whoever suggested that. the same power as me but 250kgs more! that's not stats either, i have raced a few standard ones from round my way.

anyway, i'm looking to build a 270bhp ibiza as i think they have huge potential.

Thats it exactly N/A means he can pull through each gear alot longer than me. He dosnt give me any trouble as such, but put it this way... if we were both going for it from a standing start (VTS in front) i wouldnt like my chances of actually overtaking him untill we were over 60mph. Fun little cars, but definatley not got the torque that we have.

alot of people say that. VTS & GTI have to be taken right to the redline or they do appear slower than they are. when my GTi had just a BMC air filter. it ran a 15.02 1/4 mile and 0-60mph of 6.4 secs. i don't think a standrad cupra "wouldnt have had trouble" with that?

But would you wana go over 60 in a bean can with 3mm discs? lol

Most "races" are 30-70 anyway where the VTS is eaten lol

lol, i think your underestimating them! your not far from me at all, my mate has a BOG standard vts, fancy meeting up for a little blat? i think you'll be surprised. :p :D

That's a pretty 1/4 mile time considering I dount you're really near 160bhp with those mods.

My mate had Bic's old TB'd GTi lump in his 106, RR'd at 172bhp and that did the Pod in 14 flat. That engine had £1000s spent on it, and was an animal. :D

I think you'll find a Cupra a completely different driving experience to a 106. I had a 106 GTi before I bought my Cupra, used to the high reving 16v whereas in the Cupra it's all about the torque.

I'd go for a GT28RS turbo set up too over a hybrid k04, will get you to a genuine 280-300bhp which will be enough to see off a 240bhp Mini and Golf. ;)
