How do you find out which size flywheel your car has?

And am i right in saying that if the 228mm flyhweel is fitted as standard a VR6 clutch can be fitted without replacing the flywheel to the G60 jobbie?

Cheers.

edit, btw mines a Y 2001 AYP

AFAIK phil the only way your gonna know is when you take off the box

I was told by VW spares that all AYP motors were fitted with 220mm but upon removing the box the new clutch was nothing like the one that came off and so it had to go back and the right one ordered for 228mm fly

220mm fly wheels are dual mass flywheels and 228 mm are g60 vr6 flywheels i think you should have a dual mass flywheel

news to me i didnt no that

no offence intended at all mate but you ain't been here long and you ain't owned your car long either have you...:)

i replaced my clutch last June and i ordered the only OEM clutch kit that was available from this website (220mm) but when it arrived and was held up against the car with the box off it was nowhere near the same size. the car had only done 55k but i looked through my history anyway and according to it the clutch had never been changed previously, let alone the fly wheel as well. so it was fitted with a larger dual mass kit as standard

lol i dunno what the actual size was, could have been 225mm but i know 100% that the clutch i originally ordered was 220mm and that didnt fit

Im in need of a new clutch now.. I looked on GSF car parts and the only clutch they list for the Ibiza is a 225mm kit.

Phil what size is jonzy's G60 clutch?

I'm beginning to wonder now whether i have a standard clutch/fly or not
all i know is that the friction plate was shagged when i removed it and it was larger than the 220mm kit

i would have though the 225 would be better for the 20vt (actually argued it with seat tech years ago but was told 220 was correct)

info we were originally given sugested only AQX engine was effected but we stripped down 2 AYP (2001 builds) and they both had 225's in them

Mine has a 228 clutch as standard.
When I spoke to Seat about it to order they said the only way to find out was when it was in bits as it depended what Seat were using at the time. It was suggested that early cupras had 220 and later ones 228 but I don't know how acurate this is. I just ordered both and returned the smaller when we knew it was the larger one I needed.
