Has anyone done it?

I need 2 tyres and I don't like the fact the wheels have absolutely no kerb protection.

Has anyone fitted 215/40s and found that they help, or have you found any 205/40s with a rim protection big enough to actually do its job?

All help appreciated - cheers!

Tom, there are quite a few guys on Briskoda that use 215s on their Fabia vRSs.
Having twice had 205s stretched over 7.5J rims I would definately go for 215s in the future myself (yes I know Cupra rims are 7J but you get my drift!!!). Even then you'd be wise to make sure that they have quite a substantial lip on your chosen brand of rubber, as 40 profiles keep the rim very close to the ground as you'll be well aware!

what is this rim protection you speak so fondly of??

i'm sure 215's will be fine, and like you said a 205 would work as well....

my 205's work...on my 8j rims...and also my 9j's

but hell no to parking with them!

I almost had 195/40s on my old MK4, over the 7.5x17 Comps, but that was when I thought strecthed tyres were cool. Now living in the town centre, I have to have some kind of rim protection around here!

Thanks for the good advice, looks like I will be buying 215s, despite the price difference!
