Thoughts on this guys?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/163134.htm

I was intending on getting a mk3 cupra or mk4 gti 20vt, but this 'could' be awesome.

Take off the wheels, lights, spoiler and it won't be too bad!

What is airbag suspension like for handling? I presume it's crap! If so what would be involved in putting coilies back on it?

For £4000 would you say it's a good buy?

£4000 seems awful cheap for a car with an engine transplant and all the extras to be honest, you'd need to check it all out with a fine toothed comb.

It needs to have the car basically stripped back to standard spec visually in my opinion and different wheels blah blah, and a set of coilovers rather than airbags.

You could buy it for say...£3700, sell all the parts you dont need and POTENTIALLY have a very nice and quick mk2.

this copper ibiza is getting some amount of attention since its come up for sale so ive realised, this is about the 4th topic about it alone..

Seen this a few times. Looks awful but you could sort that out easily enough, take off all the shite you dont want and sell it, bet you could make quite a bit of your 4k back. Plus its gonna be fooking quick!!! Agree with david though, does seem a bit cheap considering some of the mods.

TBH i saw it when it was first advertised on ph's with no price, TBH i thought he'd want silly money for it so never even bothered to enquire, Now i've seen it for sale for £4000 thought it might be worth considering.

I take it thats the 225bhp engine so it's had revo or whatever.

I think it will look awesome keeping the wide arches, standard lights, spoiler, 17" OZ's it should look alright!

How much work is involved in taking the air bags off?

who knows!

buy it with your eyes wide open though - aftermarket ECU isn't a black science, but isn't going to help you out as much as OE stuff.

TBH even if it was f***ed i could probably make more than £4000 in parts!

Those wheels are silly expensive aren't they? I take it the airbag suspension would fit a polo and there are loads of mad euro wannabe's after some airbags!

Idunno, probably looks crap now, who knows, just a thought!

Like I said in the other thread.......... If I had spare £3k ish plus some spare time and a paper bag to put over my head on the way back home after collecting it, I'd take it off his hand immediately. Don't forget he is also supplying some 17"s and a set of coilovers with the car. And its got a set of 4pot brembo brakes

Mig

don't think so..

TT engine isn't worth that much 1200 quid or so,
aftermarket ECU 2nd hand, again, not loads - £300.
2nd hand suspension - £500
rank wheels - £500

and you're pretty much done

But there is also the Garreth turbo, FMIC, the 4 pot brakes, Interior goodies such as race buckets and a potentially mint wide arched Ibiza shell (even if it is just a bodykit)

So your at 2500.

Then youve got the bcuket seats and i guess whatever else is the interior. Panels and lights. The other wheels included. The coilovers included. The £1000 new brakes? I wonder what that plate is worth. the FMIC. There must be some sort of ICE. i think you could get the money back.

I might just check with my insurance broker...

dodgy stuff to me, looks like he ditched DBW for a cable driven throttle too

along with going for a single coil ignition and no OE maf must be all to do with the management system

dont fancy that much
