2014 Leon FR niggles

Hi chaps, me again :)

So, collected my Leon FR (5F) from the Seat dealer today. I'm having a few teething troubles, which I'll outline in more detail below. But I have a question, first of all; how comprehensive is the warranty on an Approved Used Seat vehicle?

Reason I ask is before I go barrelling into the dealership tomorrow, I'm curious to know if they are likely to play ball or whether I will (in the most part) get fobbed off.

Issues...

1. I've noticed that there is a large piece of interior trim at the bottom of the B-pillar surrounding the passenger's seat belt reel that is cracked. The trim follows all the way along to the bottom of the door sill and is sitting proud from the carpet underneath. Didn't spot it on test drive, obviously, as it was the opposite side to where I was sitting :) .

2. LED's on the map reading light roof panel are not working. Very surprised at this, I assumed LED's on the vehicle were intended to last the lifetime of the vehicle?? May seem a trivial thing, but if you're OCD like me, things not working that should bug the life out of me!

3. Start/Stop keeps relaying error message on the instrument panel screen; as a result, the Start/Stop function doesn't kick in when stopped at traffic lights etc. It worked for about half an hour today, either side of several hours not working.

4. There is a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the top of the instrument binnacle - possibly the black plastic surround? May seem like nothing, but it is quite loud and I can't tell you how much it's annoying me!!

So, there you have it. Admittedly, nothing that I suppose would be considered earth-shattering, but faults nonetheless. Didn't expect it after forking out five-figures, and as an Approved Used vehicle either. Hopefully some of you guys can advise me what the likelihood of getting these things rectified...

Cheers guys

As far as I know any car bought from a garage should be as stated in the advertisement and if not they have to fix it or take the car back.

So considering it's an approve used with some sort of warranty all these things should be fixed completely free of charge, unless you were made aware of the above issues.

Especially the start stop malarkey so I wouldn't be accepting anything other than it being fixed, except the rattles that just seems to be a VAG group trademark that you need to invest some time and effort in to sort out yourself.

What stop start error are you getting?

There are a lot of conditions the car needs to meet before it will activate so if it's just the symbol with a line through it, that's possibly normal. I'd imagine your car has been sitting on the forecourt for a while so may need drive to get the battery fully recharged etc. You'll also find stop start won't kick in if you brake sharply as your stopping.

Thanks for the replies guys!

@ ChrisRibiza - I'm getting an actual error message, i.e. it's not just the symbol with a line through it; it actually states Start/Stop error.

No warning lights, just the Start/Stop system error message.

Just a thought - could a badly out of state battery be causing all this?? I appreciate the system won't activate if it detects, amongst other things, low charge state - but that just puts the symbol with a line through it at the top right corner of the info. display usually.

I've never seen this error message before, not how I've experienced Start/Stop systems in the past, anyway!

Could well be a battery issue. The car also will start to shut non essential things down to conserve power if it's low.

Might be worth getting the dealer to check the battery condition.

You probably have a cooling off period and if your not happy with the car can return it within a certain amount of time-you could mention this to the dealer..

I'd say you'd be fine with the first 3 points, the rattle behind the dials is an easy self fix

You say it's a 2014 model, is less than 3 years old still and what is the mileage?
Also if by chance it's had a new battery fitted it may not meet the spec for Stop/Start.
