Spotted a 1.9 TDi SE, 2004(04) Reg with 75k miles on. Spoke to the dealer and its one of their division cars, and has a full service history (Cambelt etc).

I know its a lot of miles, and that doesn't really bother me as long as the car is sound.

So, would you? And anything I should check specifically at this milage?

if it was a year older i would of said yes, but 35k a year is quite high, although if its all mways it may well be worth it

what warranty is offered? if its been well used turbo could well be "used"

depends on the good price tho i suppose :)

Like Saul says it depends on the price, I wouldn't look at this car as a 2004 more like a 2002 model, if you see what i mean. If its priced the same as other similar 2002 models then it maybe worth it. With that many miles on the clock they have to be mway miles, surely.

I hear you re: Turbo. My mum has an Octavia 1.9TDi110 and it has sticky vanes.

The car is priced at £6995 but I think I can get that down a bit :D

I don't know the warrenty yet, but its a main Seat dealer. When I get a spare hour im going to pop down and have a look at it.

My 2003 1.9TDi SE with 46k and FSH is for sale in the for sale section....£5700! Seriously, I wouldn't worry about 75k, the only major thing you need to watch out for is I think the injectors, which according to honestjohn.co.uk can need attention at around 80,000 miles. My car is sweeter than ever at 46k, I'm only selling because I can't resist a new FR...

My 2002 Tolly TDI now has 90k on it, and touch wood, runs absolutly sweet..

I use it to commute on a round trip of 103 miles a day, and it gives 60+ mpg average for the trip. Can't be bad.

Mixed bag really, as some guys say high mileage on a TDI is bad, and others say good, only just run in !!

My feelings are that as long as the motor is sound and doesn't appear to have any faults, then fine.
You never know what is going to happen in the future, so don't really worry about it till it happens.
I have heard of cars less than a year old with 10k on the clock blowing up, while the old timers just keep on going.

I would recommend turning the EGR thingy down so as to reduce soot and causing the problem the guy above mentioned with the turbo vanes, done mine ages ago and no adverse affects what so ever.

High(er) mileage Tolly's, nothing wrong with them, well I would say that, wouldn't I ;-)

FWIW - my car is a V reg, so its a bit older but its dont nearly 105k miles. Not a single rattle, it feels tighter and newer than my old car, which was a W reg citroen xsara with 40k miles on it!

I wouldn't be put off by the miles, but I think there are better deals around if you are prepared to travel
