hi everybody this is my first thead so sorry for bad spelling if any.

im about to purchase the vehicle in the title, yesterday i took out for a drive with the owner and while driving the owner told me that he removed the haldex system from the car and that now the car is fwd only, in answer to my obvious question if he can put it back to normal he said that he can do it with no problem at all.

is it even possible to remove the haldex system, i dont mean the whole system i just mean the "brain" so it would not function as 4wd as it should but as a fwd?
and if it is possible, is it possible to undo the did?

in addition if any of you have advices of what should i double check befor buying.

thank you all in advance for answering
yakir.

not seen or had much to do with the haldex but from my reading it controls the ratio for the power split between front and rear wheels

firstly removing/disconnecting is one thing but personally i would wary and ask why ?

secondly they seem to be both common to wear out and VERY expensive (probably the reason)

are you gonna pay top price for a car that is effectively half what it should be an carrying a potentially expensive bill both now and/or larger later ?

have a look around google for haldex systems to get some idea of what i mean and get your head round it

i'm still stumped as to why do it anyway ?

i think u should check haldex oil pump, haldex ecu and the whole haldex...
did u ask him why he did it?? in my opinion it's abnormal...
i'm afraid haldex is just dead..
