2.0 TDI Sport DSG on its way - how

Hi all, I've just ordered a 2.0 TDI Sport DSG, evidently it was built last week (24th Feb) and I've been told it will here in 2 to 3 weeks. Does anyone know how it gets from Barcelona to London, I've heard Grimsby or Sheppey mentioned. Do they come by boat all the way or do they come overland to the channel?

Not that I'm sitting here waiting you understand...

Bored waiting now.... even though its only been a couple of weeks. I've been told that the car "left port of exit" on the 27th Feb. So 2 weeks later and according to the SEAT tracking system its still bobbing about on the sea somewhere...

Called the dealer yesterday, according to the computer, it still hasn't arrived in UK, thats over two weeks since leaving Barcelona... the armada got here quicker than that!

Just got a call from the dealer, the car has finally landed in the UK, and I should get it on the 25th. Only problem is DVLA now taking ages to transfer my number plate so will have to have an "06" plate for a new days. Not exactly a hardship.

So since I'm not getting it today (as was the original idea), that means I don't need to drive today, and as its St Patricks Day.... I'm off down the pub!

Well I ordered it on 27th Feb and by co-incidence it was getting shipped out of Barcelona on the same day (obviously it was a standard build so I didn't have to wait). I was called last Friday to be told it was in the country and should be at the dealers this week, and I should (fingers crossed) pick it up this Saturday. So you are looking at just short of 4 weeks from leaving Spain to picking it up.

Your dealer should be able to tell you where it is at the moment. Although the details their computer has are vague to say the least.

Well, the car was duly picked up this morning and very nice it is too. Although within a couple of hours it was being loaded with my teams rugby kit and then ferrying players from the station to the ground, handles very nicely even with 5 players and all the kit in. I left the team celebrating a 57-15 win and made a quick getaway so I could have some "me" time on the way home. Just a couple of niggles, the emissions warning light is on, although nothing seems to be wrong, and it insists on telling me that I have a passenger without a seat belt on. So it will be back to the garage on Monday to sort those out.
