1st Problem With The Leon...

There i was, enjoying 2 weeks of VAG ownership, until yesterday! Parked up at Tescos, came out and tried to start it, but it was turning over as if the battery was flat. So, tried again and the same - a sort of turn over click bang turn over click bang lol. So, turning it to position 2 a couple of times to let the glow plugs warm then tried it and it fired up no problems. Parked it up again later, then came out and the same but again started eventually.

This afternoon it did it again, but only moved it a couple of metres to wash it, then tried to start it straight away to test it and was again turning over as if flat battery. So, off i goto Halfords (which is really annoying as im a techy in a main dealer so can get parts uber cheap) and paid £59.99 for a new battery (not so bad as without a trade card its £94.99), came home, fitted it and still not turning over properly!! Anyhow, i got a push off the drive and it bump started fine, did what i had to do tonight which was a total of 40 miles none stop, parked it up, turned everything off and turned the car off. Tried it aaaaaand.... nothing. Nothing at all now. So, im pretty sure its nothing battery/alternator related as if the alternator was shot it wouldn't do 40 miles without draining the battery, so im gonna have to source a starter motor. This sound right? Anyone have a rough guestimate on price for one, its a Seat Leon Cupra TDi 2004 with the ARL engine. Is it one starter fits all with these engines?

I would check the earth to the gearbox then positive connection to the starter then check for shure if charging voltage is ok then would check if there is not any drain from the battery whilst your car is off and locked and finnaly would go for starter.
you may safe some monney good luck.
