My car has always like to drink oil and I know these are supposed to be bad for it. I decided to service my car myself and used a genuine oil filter from seat and some castrol edge ll.
It's now been just under 4k miles since it's service and it's not touched a drop of oil since.
It took about 4.6 liters to fill back up after draining.

Was done at randoms to be fair..but the service before was done at a friend's garage and castrol edge was used. The only difference has been the genuine oil filter, and i can't see how that would make a difference

Perhaps the genuine filter allows better oil flow so the oil does not get as hot.
