Ive been told this has popped up because its been remapped. Yes? No?
Yup, thats correct.
In order to meet current EU legislation for cars meeting EU4 emissions limits, the manufacture must include a method of identifing if the ecu settings have been changed / corrupted in any way. in order to do this most ecus now contain a "check sum" P code. Which every time the ecu boots up runs, establishes if the memory map is intact and std.
Hence when you chip a car you'll get this code if you don't also change the check sum total in the relavent location. Fortunately on cars homologated before 2005, this code will just
store in memory and probably not put the MIL on, from next year on, you will get a MIL light every time!
