Hey all my first post here,

I'm looking into purchasing a leon 1.8T in the next few months as i'm 23 now & would like something a little more sensible.. (& pref a turbo :funk:).

My mind is set however i just have a few questions, how reliable are leons? Also what can i expect MPG-wise from a standard 1.8T?

Cheers

Rich

had a 2003 and 58000 miles on it since march, still runs great, she's only had one coil pack go. other than that the usual like tyres and things. steering rack just fixed to but that was due to a bad hit on a pothole.

MPG i average about 20-24mpg

Ive had a facelift 20v turbo in flash red 35 days now :funk: Granted my previous cars were both a rover 400 and a modified fiat stilo, it just kicks both out the water on style and build quality,

Im personally real picky when it comes to buying cars, (shocks some with my previous car ownership!) i always head to toe them, first thing look at brakes and tyre tread, you dont want to be forking out for new rubber just a few months after you buy it, have a gander undr the car too, wear old clothes check wishbones/droplinks, exhaust/cat/intermediate pipe, history on services and cambelt, also check tyre wear to see how its been driven, bobbly outer edges and uneven tyre wear,,

Its still early days with mine, but i have all faith in it, the ride is rock solid, it never misses a heartbeat and its immaculate head to toe,

Paid 6k for an 03 cupra with 35k , its show room conditon,

did a MPG test when i got it, giving it some beans in every gear over a 44 mile trip to york it returned 29-30 mpg, which i was real suprised at, going a steady 75-80 on motorways i was seeing 36-37, not sure if the trip computer is readings slightly high but im seeing 340-350 miles to 40 quid,

Im real impressed with mine, but as with any manufacturer i thing you get good ones and bad ones,

I've killed fords, peugeots and an indestructible Volvo

Had the Cupra since september 07 and it's been seriously reliable. A couple of minor parts have worn but nothing serious in nearly 30k miles:clap:

20 months, 2 coilpacks, ball joint and thats it... oh and a cv boot

all wear and tear... the engines indestructable, but cupra has minor niggles, leaky door seals etc

but one of the most non jap reliable cars ever. damn germans

nearly 90k on mine, had it just over a year with no major issues. Only downside is some of the build quality with regards to rattles from the boot, but they are easy enough to sort. Glad I bought the car, had a Toyota Corrolla Twin-Cam before and the LC blows it out of the water with regards to performance.
