tracking depends, if its just the front toe then your probably looking at about £25 - £30. Goto a proper place that does 4 wheel alignment + camber though to make sure its done properly.

As above really. Go to somewhere that will do a proper job and get a print out of the readings. If you can afford it then get the full 4 wheel alignment done. It'll be well worth it. I work at a main dealer (non vag) and we charge aprox £80 for the full thing.

Dont know if you can adjust the rear but if its a proper 4-wheel alignment machine, it will measure the rears anyway and tell you if there are any probs just for peace of mind. Think its mainly cars with multi link suspension that you can adjust rear. Pretty sure my ibiza is just a single rear beam which cannot be adjusted.
Hope that helps.

Yeah the Ibiza is a fixed rear beam so you can't adjust it however the place where doesn't charge anything extra to check it all as its just fitting 2 sensor pad things and the computer does it all.

The Ibiza rears are normally out lol as any little knock seems to affect it

You can actually adjust them, by packing shims inbetween the beam and the stub axle. It's a right old time consuming ballache of a job though...

If the rears are out, the most likely culprit - assuming your wheels are round and run straight and true - is a bent stub axle. The stub axles aren't particularly beefy and you don't have to hit a kerb hard to bend one. A bent beam is pretty unlikely, but not impossible - VAG seemed to learn their lesson with the mk1 Golf which had insanely overbuilt stub axles and a rear beam made of cheese, so in most cases a wallop meant you needed to replace the entire beam. They've tended to do things the right way round on subsequent models. If both rears are out by roughly equal and opposite amounts, it could just be a load of slop in the bushings where the rear beam joins to the body.

8v is no slower that a 16v real world so you've not lost out much and its cheaper to run and insure. If its private sale your stuck really, however if you contact trading standards ASAP i think there is a space of a week where you can return it or claim damages. If the car is illegal then it has to be clearly sold as spares or repairs
