16V 2.0 GTi loss of power

Wondering if you can help.

My 16v 2.0 Gti appears to be running slow. I recently bought the car, but have owned 16v engined cars before.

I notice a sort of rattling sound on the exhaust, under hard accelaeration.

Somebody suggested I should check the O2 sensor.

Where will I find this sensor and how can I check this ?

Lambda sensor is just before the cat

sounds more like you have a knackered centre section, which will feel like it's asthmatic
