12v source for electric windows

I've posted this in the Mk2 Ibiza forum, but someone here might know too..

I've retro fitted a set of electric mirrors to my Mk2 Ibiza, replaced the door loom to provide the required additional wires. The switch is in, and runs to the connector block in each door.. but there's a 'spare' brown wire with a female connector block at the end, which I assume is for a 12v supply?

Does anyone know where it's supposed to connect?

brown wires are earths not 12v power unless it has another colour like a stripe on it

Ah.. so it's just an earth then?
In that case, I should be able to just whack a spade connector on a piece of wire, whack it under a bolt on the bodywork etc, and we're away?

There's nothing happening when I use the mirror switch you see, and thought it was because it had no live.. didn'tt hink I wasn't making a circuit without ground..
