Hey, If I wanted to wire up my own boot light, where would the best place be to tap it into a 12volt feed?

Also has anyone dealt with SEAT regarding leaking headlights under warrenty. I was first told to monitor it for a couple of days, then to phone back. I phoned them back and they now want to monitor it themselves for 2 days!!!
I told them to go bollocks and they settled to monitor it for a couple of hours on tuesday the 31st, then order a new lamp if necasarry. What a hassle for the sake of a bit of condensation

I think he means where people get condensation inside the headlight housing. Strange really as I never used to have that problem with my old Ibiza and loads of people did. :)

Ive been told by my local stealer that Seat wont allow them to change headlamp's under warranty anymore. Only in extreme cases will they allow new one's! i.e. When you have a pond in your headlamp!

Well My drivers side one is constantly 100% clouded over and you can often see drips.

I was told over the phone that it can be changed, if its bad enough.

Any ideas about my boot light?

depends where you want to mount it,
it's a bitch to get inside the rear panels to get a feed from the tail lights, then even more annoying to get all the lining back in secure and straight!!

also, where are you going to switch it from?? manually, or a contact switch on opening the boot??

Mine have been doing this for ages but honestly does it really bother you that much!

Turn your lights on for 5 mins and away it goes!

Sorry just my opinion!:headhurt:

got condensation in both front fogs on the Pug, and yes, turning them on does dry them out. hardly ever use fogs these days (except to flash other twats with them on) so doesn't really bother me. However, if i could get free new ones i probably would!!

get a tiny bit of condensation in the sides of the Beeza rears since i put LED bulbs in. Guess without the heat dissipation they won't dry either?

Nope, mines there solid all the time.

Im planning on mounting a contact switch, didnt any mk4s come with boot lights? If so another option would be to butched one from another mk4, still need a feed tho. How close are the rear speakers?

brochure doesn't mention bootlight anywhere, might be on European models????

rear speakers on 3-door are in the rear side passenger well (where the rear doors would be)

My old MY03 Ibiza had a boot light. And 8 speakers, the extra oil temp/voltage dials and the centre sun visor. :p

Boot light is easy....

The switch is already there and you can order a new boot trim with a hole for the light in it for about a fiver;) Take the power from the constant supply for the interior light, then its on the same fuse as it is on the early models!

Leaky headlights: The last time I was at the dealers I was looking at all the new unregistered SEATs outside and about a quarter of them had condensation in at least some of their lights. It looks like it is a standard "feature" on SEATs.

Bootlight: Could someone with a bootlight on an older model tell us where it is located and where the switch is or is it part of the boot lock mechanism? Photos would be good!

I have all the bits at home, just not got round to doing the fitting yet. Also I think they tap the wrong wire for boot switch, there are two that come back to the connector. I buzed it out on one with an OE boot light and the wire goes to a different pin...
