Tolly Rad

Hi, Had a new rad fitted at a local non Seat/VW garage. Took about 40 mins. Everything comes out the bottom so walk under ramps are needed. Maybe you can dismantle the front end and get at it that way? Rather you than me in this weather:) Cost £105 at the garage, believe its a standard VW rad from a Golf/Polo.

Good luck!

I had the rad on my 2002 1.9 TDI changed a while back..

The garage removed some grommets in the front bumper somewhere (under bumper mouldings or number plate somewhere?) and inserted some special long bolt things which screwed in and stuck out the front.

They then loosened and removed all the bumper bolts and then the panel along the top where the bonnent catch is.

Then much to my amazement, they slid the whole front of the car forwards along the bolt things they had inserted. The bumber, bonnet catch panel etc was then held there while they did the job.

The rad was then totally accessible from the top.
A few hoses and bolts later, and the rad simply lifted straight out the top, leaving the thiner air con rad exactly where it was !!

I am sure it can be done without the special bolt things, but you will have a whole load of bits to remove to gain access to the rad.

Good luck !!
