Hi everyone I’m currently looking at a Leon 1.8tsi fr, am I right in thinking that it’s chain driven and not belt driven.

Also what’s the mpg like on the 1.8 is it any good.
Thanks for any help

I have a 2018 1.8 tsi dsg.
Mileage can be mid 40's (mpg) but if it is pushed i get mid 30's.
23,000m on the clock.

My long term average is about 38-39mpg with a mix of driving. Town driving and going for a spirited drive down B roads - early 30's. Motorway steady 70 for a good distance 44mpg. Have seen 50, but that was a long drive through a lot of 50mph road works on the M1. Listen for chain rattle at start up. There doesn't want to be any, or that'll need changing before too long.

I find 'real mpg' is a good estimator on the spread of mpg you can expect for a particular engine/model.
On many of my previous cars, it lines up well with what I get - normally having to 'try' but achievable for the higher end figure.

38 is my long term average (from the trip computer). 7500 miles of mixed driving.
