1.8T generic remaps and boost/dump valves

smokescreen

Hi all,

Looking to get a generic remap to take my LC from 180bhp to 210bhp ish.

Speaking to the people who did my last remap on my previous diesel car, they suggested that to be on the safe side, I should get the dump valve and boost control valves changed along with the generic remap.

Is this something worthwhile for a generic remap?

Also I'm guessing changing the boost and dump valves would be modifications from OEM, and therefore would need to declare with the remap, to the insurance company? Insurance company been reasonable so far, just £80 for the remaining 6 months left on my policy for remapping to 210bhp.

Thanks

the standard dv is a diaphram type and many go to the piston style as they can`t tear or hole. the rubber will be a certain age so a new dv will give you peace of mind that it can handle the extra boost.

the boost controller or N75 valve i wouldnt touch unless it goes wrong. mines an 01 car and had various stages of tune on at the same valve. no issues.

imo id get an uprated air filter to improve breathing.

declare it all to the insurer , just in case:)

Yup, the dump valve question got answered by search, boost not so much. I'll defo get the DV done in that case.

So, no need to mess with the boost control valve at 210bhp ?

And yes, I might as well declare the DV change as well to them, given they'll use any excuse they can to get out of paying...!

I agree with Pat, leave the boost control valve (N75 valve) and change your dv to a Forge 007P.
You will be fine to get the map done first then change the dv when you get the extra cash.
