1.8T FR - Turbo Gasket problems

This post is for my mate as he needs advice on a new part.

His FR is currently running Revo stage 2, however he's been having problems with his turbo gasket, since the remap, he's already had a new gasket under his warrenty, however, it seems like its on its way out again.

Does anyone know if there is an uprated part for this as it sounds terrible, as its consently blowing.

Common fault on the 1.8T. Especially with a tweaked ECU. Try a 10mm lock washer on all 3 bolts. The turbo emits a frequancy that rattles the bolts out. Constantly re-tightening mine every weekend.

could also be due to worn engine mounts that have loosened up and the movement of the engine is sending unwanted flexes in all the joints causing the bolts to eventually rattle loose im in the process of getting some custom made engine mounts from vibra technics to stop me getting my turbo gaskets replaced for the 5th FCUKIN TIME

had this problem with mine after 5k miles on stage one revo but after it was fixed did 15k miles on stage two revo and no probs and that was with less flexible dp as well. and there isnt any uprated parts from seat of vw for it.

Have you tried shake-proof washers? Spring washers not as good where there's vibration.

or double up the nuts and lock them together with a shake proof washer

Yes, that's what I thought but can't put two nuts on if it's bolts. Unless there are nuts on the end of the bolt, instead of the bolt just screwing in.

Ahh ok it's bolts is it ?

well you need shake proof washers then or..........................remove bolts, fit threaded studs and use thread locker in the holes then double up nuts and washers

Too Hot for thread lock

You would be surprised how temp proof it is, I use it on some of my machines at workwhere surface temps reach 240 deg C

Do you want me to post the photo of my 3 month old bolts seized into my K03S and snapped off?

Anti-seize is the only thing to put on those three bolts (and I had it). If they are coming lose, they weren't torqued up properly.
