1.8 Cupra - stuttering at low revs?

Hey folks, hope your all well,

Last night I noticed when driving along at low rev's if I push the accelerator pedal down it almost feels like I have my foot on the brake at the same time - then kicks back to life...

It seems to be only noticeable at lower revs.

It idles fine so does not appear to be a coil pack issue - my last Cupra chugged like mad at idle when the coil pack went?

My first suspicion is the dump valve - im still using the standard one ( I know!) and have done about 20,000 miles now, but am aware these can go anytime.

But surely that would affect top end as well as lower revs?

The spark plugs were changed in November.

I'll try and get it hooked up to Vag com later to see if it picks a code up, so far the engine management light has not come up on the dashboard though.

Any ideas? (It's under warranty until Jan 09 - yikes!)

MAF Sensor / Lambda sensor are other suspicions (again going from my old Ibiza Cupra experiences!)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Sean

I would check the vacuum and boost hoses are all secure first. Sounds like some kind of leak.

Hi guys,

I just went out to have a look for any split pipes or similar, and nothing looked out of place as such.

Yesterday the fault light showed up on the dashboard.

I've ordered a DV007P as in fairness it's not like it's a waste of money to have one over the standard bosch one, i've seen those split a few times and it's still my prime suspicion on this car.

The car is still under warranty (just!) so im gonna replace the dump valve when it arrives, if it doesn't solve the issue, I will take it into SEAT.

Either way i'll let you know the outcome mate so you can see if thats the same on yours...

Hey folks, thought i'd give an update!

The fault light has not been on since but the problem is still there - unfortunately the dv007 didn't turn up yesterday so I haven't been able to fit that, and the car is booked for SEAT warranty repair on Thursday so I won't have time to fit it before then.

I'll prob give it to SEAT and say if they are going to change the DV stick that on there instead, im sure they won't mind, if they do, i'll do it myself another time and get them to put another Bosch one on.

(Thats if it's the DV!)

I wonder if they keep N249 valves in stock...?

You could bypass the N249 if you think it's that. Then see if the problems still occurs.

Hey guys! This is now fixed; It wasn't very informative but what they said it was;

"Replaced wire for 4 pin connector"

Apparantly that was causing the power loss - im guessing it might be something to do with the DBW?

So Evo mate, it may be worth checking that out?
