1.8 20vT Gearbox issues

Hello Everyone First Post So if you can help??
I have purchased a 2003 1.8 20vt to replace my old 1.8 standard car.
The six speed gearbox is VERY notchy and gritty if I want to go into 2nd.It is particularly resistant if going from 1st to 2nd and anytime you want 2nd it wants to be nursed in very slowly..no possibility of accellerating through the box quickly without an argument!!!
I have uprated the Gbox oil to the top mobil stuff and also put in a gearbox addative....Slightly slicker for about 2 weeks
All this is very different from my partners 2002 Cupra which had the same engine/gearbox.Which I drove regularly so know what is standard(ish)
The car has only done 25k miles but is now just out of warranty so has anyone any idea what this problem might be.

i used to have a similar problem on my 2003 Toledo 20vt.
it was very very difficult to select reverse when doing a
three point turn.
when i explained this to the seat dealer in New Southgate on the North circular rd they knew exactly what was wrong.
they said the gearbox needed re-centering.
after that the problem was solved under warrantee.
I hope this helps.
try to speak nicely to your local dealer they might just do it for a drink.
