Hi, I'm looking for a bit of help with my 1.6 sx cordoba 1997 model. The car idles fine but doesn't seem to pull properly under acceleration, the revs rise but its like its missfiring, the plugs, leads and dizzy cap are all new and I've cleaned the sensors.

The car hits the rev limiter at an indicated 5.5k which i thought was lower than it should.

Oh also the IN02 service indicator is on and I cant get it to clear?

Any help much appreciated.

Its hitting the limiter a little early, do you know if the cars had a cambelt change as it sounds like the timing may be out

If you have a search resetting the service lights been stickied somewhere

Sounds to me like its a crank shaft or cam sensor. My bets would be on the crank shaft sensor. Very common fault and I done one today in work with the exact same problem. As far as the service light :

1. Turn your ignition on till the red lights come onto your dash board.
2. With the ignition still on, hold the left button on your dash and whilst still holding it, turn your ignition off.
3. Release your button and with a pen, hold the bottom button on the right hand side of the dash untill ---- appears on your dash.
4. Release the button with the pen and hold the left button till OEL apperas.
5. Turn ignition on and off again and hey presto ! Service light reset !!!

NOTE : Some times rather than OEL appearing, IN01 or IN02 will appear, without turning your ignition off, simply push the right button with the pen and then the left again till OEL appears.

Hope this help :)

Encountered the same problem a number of times with AFT engine after replacing the knock sensor as the fault code that was coming up was that, but even after clearing the code still no joy. After seeking advice from an old but wise friend who deals mostly with old aircolled vw engines he said it was possible that a counter weight in the distributor was sticking so poured a small amount of 3 in 1 oil into the bottom around the shaft and after clearing the fault code all was well. Hope this helps.
