hi there, i've got an ibiza 1.4 petrol, i bought it new and it's been a pain in the arse for 3 and a half years. the latest problem (now its out of warranty[:@] ) is the egr valve is playing up. the only symptom is that the engine light has come on. seat have diagnosed the problem and just said i need a new one (at a cost of between 180 and 280 quid) any alternatives? i could fix it myself if i knew what to look for. any help would be much apprieciated.

cheers si

fixed, ish

well had to bite the bullet in the end so i thought i'd update this for anyone else who has this problem. the egr valve cost me around 125 quid and is only available through seat/vw etc. to change is a matter of 2 nuts, an electrical plug and a pipe disconnecting at both ends. it's located just forward of the engine block and you don't need to take that bloody cover off to replace it. all working fine now but the ecu needs resetting as its still registering the fault, i'm hoping it'll sort itself butt i'll give it a few weeks and take it in if it needs it.

sorry to dig up an old post but I'm in the process of changing my egr valve but the problem is i dont have a clue what the part number for my car is as i want to buy a used one.

i have an mk4 1.4 2003 petrol ibiza
so far i've seen the code: P/N 7.22785.06, 036131503R

was wondering if that is correct?
