hey been doing bits and bobs to my 1.4 and i think now its time to upgrade the brakes from the tiny weak items that the 1.4s have on them.
Im wanting to go for the 2.0 8v or 16v setup,am i right in thinking i will need the complete hubs off of a 2litre as well as calipers discs etc? also is it pretty much a straight fit with the new hubs to a 1.4 any other fitting issues or advice would be great?
and finaly with mk2 bits becoming harder and harder to get hold of what golf or even cordoba items would be the same, any advice appreciated. thanx

yes, you will need the hubs and everything is a straight swap. i know this as im in the process of doing the same thing. the cordoba is the same apart from it has a boot. i think that some of the running gear of a mk3 golf will fit as will the running gear off a mk3 ibiza. what sort of things are you looking for as there are parts still readily avalible for the mk2?? you just got to look for them.

thanks im gona go and try track down some hubs and brakes from a 2.0 now then.
another thing, everytime i go for mot i always need front flexi hoses cause they always found to be bulging under pressure,is it worth getting a set of braided performance ones for the new brakes aswell,do they last long and give better braking performance and what sort of price? cheers

New rubber hoses will do you just fine. You can inspect them easier for damage & bulging. Cheap too at about £17 a side IIRC

The 239mm brakes are utter pap though, but you can do a lot to make them better. New fluid, decent (read hard) pads, good quality discs & new lines will make a good job of them
