1.4 16V engine (BKY code). Timing belt replacement

Morning all,

Picked up a lovely 1.4 Ibiza for my son on the weekend. Cambelt is due but car overall condition and no-expense-spared approach by previous owner meant it was a worthwhile buy.

Anyone have any advice on changing the belt ?

I think I'm reasonably sorted with some guides from t'internet, but I have 3 main queries:

1. Which tool to use as counter force on crankshaft, when I'm taking off the pulley? Seems to be either VW3415 (bolts into place) or VS12470 which has spigots that engage on holes

2. Is a special tool required to undo the pulley ? Seems to be a 12 point, so will an appropriate-sized socket set engage on it ?

3. Can appropriately sized drills be used, instead of the camshaft locking tool ?

Just trying to minimise my outlay on tolls that I'm only likely to use once !

I got my timing belt and water pump replaced at the start of the year for £300 at a local VAG specialist with genuine parts. it was £135 for the parts and 3 hours of labour. Maybe it would be worthwhile getting a quote as you'd have a year warranty and when selling the car it would look better in the service book.
