Hi guys,
Recently my car seems to be using more fuel than usual, nothing drastic but still...
I had it serviced three weeks or so ago so surely it can't be anything serious/obvious?
I usually fill up £20 at a time and that'll last me 4-5 days as I commute via train most weeks, I can't give an accurate mile range as I never used to check! However since getting it serviced I've been filling up my usual £20 at a time and it's been lasting 3-4 days. Yes I am aware that this is entirely dependant upon my driving style, the weather and other similar factors, but nothing much has changed in those areas.
Basically, I put £20 in on Sunday and reset the trip to get an accurate measurement of miles, it expected I'd get 225 miles, it's now Tuesday night and it's almost gone and I've done 138 so far, I'll probably get around 160-170 I think. I know that the trip is optimistic to say the least but it's still a bit far off IMO.
I'd say 30% of my driving has been cruise control on the motorway at 70mph, 20% 'spirited' (a.k.a booting it in 2nd/3rd up the link-ways) and the rest just regular 30/40mph cruising, light traffic etc.
Every time I've done a journey, no matter how far, I've been checking the trip's average mpg figure and it's never gone as low as 42mpg, the highest has been 49mpg.
Appreciate this is long and boring but it's just been grating on me and wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or I'm just over analysing this. Probably the latter
