Hi,
Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI.
My car recently started entering limp mode randomly with both the EPC light and Engine Management Light appearing, went to my local garage to get it checked out and got the following code back :
P334B00 - Boost Pressure Actuator - mechanical fault
So, after having a look around i've found that this was quite common on these 2011/2012 TSI's and seat may have previously replaced them back in 2012 etc. under goodwill.
I took the car to a 'turbo specialist', they replaced the turbo with a full recon turbo under the impression that would fix it. I was meant to get the car back within 5 days, spoiler I didn't get it back in 5 days.
Since then, they had to order in a shim which they've fitted. Still didn't work.
They then told me they took the car to get the ECU updated because they didn't realise once they replaced the turbo that they had to update the ECU. After all this, I got the text to say it was ready to pickup, went down to the garage.
Asked to test drive it, guy there said something along the lines of '" dont personally think it needs test drive but we can." Something fishy going on here already. We go out and he explains to me "the gaffer took it for a good 20 mile run and it was fine, even put a fivers petrol in it" hmm glad to know the fivers petrol is on the house.
Get in, start the car, has a bit of a rough start but no EPC or Engine management light. Drive up the road to put some fuel in, return to turn the car back on and the EPC light is on again! Limp mode straight away. Told the guy in the car with me the EPC light was on, his response was "that's nothing mate, that's to do with the parking senors" my car doesn't have parking sensors. I just put my foot down on the accelerator and explained it is limp mode and the car is barely accelerating.
We drive back to the garage and they plug it in for diagnostics again, check the codes and we get:
P334B00 - Boost Pressure Actuator - mechanical fault
P334C00 - Boost Pressure Actuator - adaption not started
At this point, i'm not willing to part with my money for this issue that isn't fixed and if i didn't test drive it then and there would probably have not been their problem if I was to have paid and driven away. The guy has basically told me if it's the turbo it's on them and he "cant allow me to take it away" without it, but if its not the turbo and it's say the electrics they'll tell me what it is, i'll have to pay and then go elsewhere?
I took a picture of the faults on their bosch diag tool, basically said until the turbo faults are gone I'm not paying for it.
Does anyone know where to start with these codes because I've had a look in so many different places but seeing as they have replaced the turbo and it's still happening, along with the addition of the shim and this ECU update - I have no clue where else to look.
Also, should I get it off them as soon as or let them keep looking at it. Last thing I want is them 'finding' other things wrong with it if you know what i mean.
Any help would be appreciated, cheers.
