i know the polo and ibiza 1.0 share the same engine so i thought i would post this thread.

my fiancee polo model year 2000 is cutting randomly while running , and sometimes when it is starting it struggles alot.

took it to a centre tonight, the guy there connected his machine to the diagnosis port and it showed that cranck shaft sensor is reading inapropriate combination.

so he says if this sensor is changed it will be running smoothly.

can this sensor coz the car to stop, as it had one day failing to start before.

will the diagnosis port show everything that is making to car to work improperly? or maybe there is something hidden?

When the crank sensor on my 2L Ibiza went it would run fine for @ 20 mins then completely conk out, engine would turn over fine but just refused to start. Leave it for 15 mins it would start again etc etc.

thnx for the info stu,

another question please.
will the OBD port work and connect to ECU and gives fault codes if ignition is on or the engine should be started to get correct results?
