Hi,
have read a bit on the smoothing airbox mod. Is this beneficial to a diesel engine like mine? Does it give a better sound from the turbo etc etc or is it a waste of time?

having just come from the world of 20vT, alot of poeple are in the habit of drilling and smoothing their air boxes. Just wondered if there was any point in doing it on a TDI?
Right i had to cut my bumper when i fitted my FMIC but where ive cut it it's left a rough edge to it and now its bugging me...

Right you will need
1- pwer drill or dremil
2- grinding stone bit for above tool
3- Sand paper flap...

Can you leave off the trumpet shaped opening that clips in place inside the airbox by the opening to the MAF senser?

iv got a new kitted bumpers coming to go on very soon but i need or would like the door tips removing and smoothing,
how do they come off and also when i have removed them, whats behind, is it a few holes that need filling or,

Im a great fan of the smooth and subtle engine bays in the old golfs and would really love to do this to my LCR. But is it really practicle? I wouldnt know where to start or is it a lot of one off fabrication? Would i need to speak to a auto electricain or a body shop or both?! Any ideas of...
I've been and purchased some emery stones for my drill and set about trying to smooth the airbox, lets just say if i carry on doing it with the small emery stones it wont be done for months, lol.
How has everyone else done there?
