I have a set of forged rods, with the 19mm wrist pins, and a set of standard pistons to suit.
While i got these at a decent price im left wondering whether i should have waited and got some of the 20mm pinned rods. The pistons are standard units and came attached to the rods.

I know that stock LCR pistons are Mahle and can handle larger power outputs but it's the rods that fail.
Are the Mahle pistons only found on the BAM engines or are they all across the 1.8t range?
Everywhere I've looked have only referred to LCRs :confused:

hi guys, i need to compress the 4pots in the porsche calipers to get pads in, whats the best way anyone has done this, with or without tools?
the calipers are not on the car at the minute....

About 3ish weeks ago i changed the pads on my my wilwood supalite calipers, after i had changed the pads the brakes where sticking on quite alot. The cars been in the garage for the last 2 weeks and the mech has been unable to remove 2 of the pistons, hes said that he soaked them in penatrating...
im sure they will but wonna check.

I would like to know of any companies that sell oversized pistons for my engine please! i have melted a piston which has put a little mark on my bore! i have tryed to hone the bore out but the little mark is just to deep which is a bloody...
If i were to fit low comp pistons with uprated rods which were 8.5 - 1 for example, what would the effects be on the current setup i have apart from making the bottom end a little stronger?

Does anyone know what rpm the standard pistons are good for ? When these companys remap cupras, do they rev higher or do they stick to the standard rev limiter ??:p
ordered pistons from j e themselves. 83mm 8.5:1 cr. couple of questions. its propably language related.

I will be going bigger turbo at some point and think upgrading the rods and pistons are a definate, all the big turbo blow-ups I've read about are all thrown rods, so the rods seem to be the weak link above 300BHP - what to go for?
