More of a rant than a question
Why does my 1.6 TDI CR have a DPF? My reasoning against is below:
1. A DPF does not reduce the CO2 emissions so the Road Fund Licence (Tax) would be the same without it.
2. I do mainly urban driving so the DPF seems to be regenerating 10% of the time i am...
Do the Mk1 Leons (and the Mk4 Golf) TDI's have a diesel particulate filter or was this introduced later as i have heard they need replacing after 100k+ miles and are very expensive. I am looking at high mileage cars so i dont want a nasty shock later on.
any help is greatly appreciated.
just wanted to explain my day -
yesterday the dpf light came on on my dash. called the dealer and they said i need to rev it to 3k rpm in 4th to clean it out. if this doesn't solve it bring it in to look at.
did this and the light went out. this morning the light came back on but now i lost...
Any new Leon owners had any problems with their DPF?
I have heard they can clog up.
they are supposed to be able to burrn off particulate by reaching 600C, (ooh err missus!):(
They also require a special (even more expensive) engine oil.
Do they stop black smoke or is that too fine to get...
Came across this on an OZ biofuel web site, may give some of the reasons why its taking longer to remap this type of engine fitted with this device - I give you warning its heavy going !!
