oiling

Just cleaned and re-oilled my K&N Panel filter only to find I must have over oilled it as mpg is now way down overnight. Seems to me if you under oil it then you risk particles getting into the engine, yet over oil it and fuel economy packs its bags and heads off on its hols never to return...
