Brakes! mileage/journey type?

I've done about 10K miles from new in my std Leon FR and have noticed recently its not stopping as quick as it used to. 10K miles seems pretty low but most of my driving is the 'stop- go' type city driving with a lot of braking. Just wondered when have folk replaced their brakes? I know it...
