flashing esp

ESP Light Flashing when turned off

HI, I have a 2008 Seat Leon 1.9 tdi. When I turn the ESP off, the light flashes on the dash constantly. Is it supposed to flash constantly when the ESP is off? Or is it supposed to just stay illuminated? Many thanks Tahir
