Was just changing my dipstick tube as the old one snapped in half. A couple/few bits of the plastic crumbled off down the tube into the sump.
The bits were only 1-5mm big. I'm thinking shouldn't be much of a problem - will either melt or get crushed up if they make it past the pick up/oil...

Whilst I was checking the oil on my cupra, the orange dipstick holder disintegrated in my fingers!
I have purchased a new one and hope to fit it over the weekend. Is it easy to replace? Thanks in advance Dave

I found some gunk (white ish) on my dipstick last weekend- mainly near the top. Have checked it every day since- no gunk (non on the oil cap either). Is this due to the really cold weather or do I have a possible head gasket problem.
PS managed to do the fabia wiper conversion yesterday- well...
went out to check my oil level last night & somehow managed to snap the plastic top section of the dipstick tube - doh! it was getting dark so I couldn't really see if it comes apart/how it comes apart but managed to get one ordered for £1.73 + VAT. Just wondered if anyone's ever done it...
As im running in a new engine thought I would just check the oil levels only to find half the dip-stick missing. All thats there is a thread, no markings to tell you max or min levels :(
So I rang the dealer up and he said bring the car in and we will look at it.
Well after looking at it...

Does anyone else think the design of the oil dipstick on the leon is crap?
I went to check oil th other day and because of the colour of the metal which its made from its really difficult to see the markers and check the level!!!
Or perhaps this is uncommon not sure, but my dipstick is...
Just checked my oil and noticed that the plastic collar part of the dipstick tube has snapped in half, so that when i take the dipstick out half the orange plastic collar comes with it.
Is this easy to change, on my old VTS the tube for the dipstick was held on with one bolt and otherwise it...

I have had my leon fr 14 months now and last nite I was reading through the manaul and came to look at the page about the dipstick. From reading it I have realised I have been putting to much oil in. I have been filling up about 1 cm past the top indentation...
