ipod cradle/cable

Hello, I have just ordered my new ibiza sport and the dealer told me I need a ipod cradle costing £65 which I think this must be. So do I need to buy a cradle just to use the CUP system? Can I not just use a normal USB ipod cable? Many Thanks
