My Leon cupra R has got the engine light on

I’ve rigged up vag com and its saying imtermittent fault with coolant sensor, reading too high.
GU62 or something

I take it I need a new sensor, How much are these? and has anyone got a part number?

Also how the heck to i fit it, is it easy or shall i pay for it to be done?

Thanks
Mark

yea i think u'll find they r comon things to fail..especially if its and old black top sensor... apparently the newer 1's come wiv a green top sensor which is more reliable.. they are dead easy to change from what i can gather and cost around £25..

i have seen a guide somewhere tells u exactly wheere to find the sensor in ur engine..and tells u how to change it

Yes they cost around £30 and its a very common fault.

I changed mine for a green top sensor about a month ago and it takes about 5-10mins to fit!

Yes its on the right hand side of the engine, just above and to the left of the gear linkage.

Easy to change, release the pressure in your coolant system by unscrewing the cap! Tighten cap back up (Make sure you do this before pulling plug out otherwise you will lose all your coolant fluid, like i did  )

Once you have released pressure and tightened cap back up, pull the little circlip out with a pair of pliers, pulling towards you! This will come out and enable you to simply just pull the plug out!

Fit the new O ring and push the new green sensor in with a little bit of force so it seats correctly! Refit the circlip and make sure it secures the sensor, top up coolant fluid if neccessary and go for a drive to get the coolant upto temperature. Recheck sensor to make sure it is still seated correctly and job is done!

Piece of piss! Remember and work on a cold system, do not drive the car before doing the job!

No just go straight to your dealer, doubtful you will get it cheaper anywhere else.
