Hi All

I've got a friend at work who recently bought a Leon (55 Plate Leon 1.6) only done about 800 miles in it

He is having a problem with the gearbox, a bit of clunking when putting it in gear and changing...occasionally it pops itself out of gear, is this normal for a brand new gearbox or are there issues here?

Its going back to the garage on Monday but I told him I'd ask those in the know...

Any ideas?

Cheers Peeps,

Mike

No it isn't. Thats something serious if its popping out of gear. Probably a broken selector fork... i.e. new gearbox time.

Had the gearbox replaced in my 1.6. Problem started with a slight hesitation in acceleration after changing gear though at the time I didn't think it was a gearbox problem (Had been having throttle body problems). Booked it into the dealers to have it checked but before it was due the gearbox started making whining noises. By the time I stopped something inside had knocked a hole in the bottom of the gearbox and the oil had spilt out. All happened a month before the warranty ran out:)
