LCR vs CTR

Don't know if many of you have read my prrevious post basically i was looking at getting a few cars but have narowed it down to these two after looking at them and going into deeper detail. Was also considering a clio 182 but sat it in one went to press the accelerator pedal and kicked the dash  don't think that cars going to be practical.

So really what i wanted to know was which one you think is best i know this is a Seat website and i think i know what your going to say. But justified points (and test drives) are going to make my mind up on this. I mean on paper CTR 0 - 60 = 6.8. LCR 0 - 60 = 6.7. So performance wise seem very similar. What do you guys think of the vtec in comparison to a turbo?

Any comments apprieciated.

Simple enough to answer (even though a search will provide all the opinions you'll ever need).

CTR - Rapid, high revving, pretty basic spec, more track focused, unrefined.
LCR - Quick but more of a cruiser, loads of equipment, more comfortable, more mature, better motorway car.

Depends what you want from a car.

ive been in, and driven both.

id say that the LCR is the more practical car (5 doors) and is quicker in everyday driving on everyday roads.
As the power delivery comes in lower down.
You get a fair bit more as standard equipment also.
Its also more easily tunable. 265 bhp can be had spending in region of £450-£600.

The CTR is a bit more boy racerish. im not saying thats necessarily a bad thing, but its a less refined drive and does need thrashing to get its power out of it.
The civic does handle a little better and if you were to compare the 2 on a race track the civic would win. But not by alot.

Again comparing the two, the civic wont break, well not often.
The LCR, while reliable is not a match for the honda and is a little more fussy about what the weather is doing. But thats a trait of turbo cars really.
Civic may also produce better economy figures.

Oh and with the civic, you need to buy a hanky, as the gear nob gets very hot in the summer and they get nicked alot!
:)

enough said, i enjoy driving a turbo car, i wouldnt want to turn heads while hitting 7k/8k in the vtec, plus i don't feel the need to rev above 4500k in the 20vt.

the civic is a funny car, some like some dont (me ;) )

I've just got shut of a CTR, far to peaky, to noisy, both engine and tyre noise!! You have to thrash it to get any decent performance out of them. I did go from an evo V, but it still smelled :cartman:

I just had a quick blip with a CTR the other morning (real early) side by side down a section of 'private road'. From 30 up to about a ton (before we both slowed) we were very very even, I only pulled about 3 to 4 feet in front. The noise of CTR is so loud when next to you! :-o

I still run standard ECU.

lcr is more of a better lookin car rarer, much better potenial tunnin wise and is a high spec'd car for little money in the hot hatch world

ctr is more balls out i dont like the gearstick where its placed but thats how i change gear prob and i dont like the fact that if u wanna chase after someone u haveto drop it down and ragthe bo11ocks of it where as the lcr just goes and goes then a re-map comes and it goes and goes some more much more thn a civic, the civic has better handlin but its down to the fact its more track day based

one of the many reasons why i chose a LCR is that every one has a CTR!!! they are everywhere!!!!! where i live [somewhere north of watford] i can honestly say in my day to day driving i might see another LCR once a month!!! - this defo. makes you feel you have more an exclusive car and just look at them both the LCR is soooo much better looking, even with 5 doors [practicality and fun to drive!!!] i would say the CTR in my opinion does have a slighty better looking interior but i don't think they can be compared as people who buy CTR's are generally boyracer or middle aged types who want to be 17 again!!! the LCR is a more grown up car with subtle style and good quality!!!!!! [ you can tell what i drive......and i've ahd two of them!!!! :D ]

Had both.... Had my CTR for 3 years and 108,000 miles... Great car, haven't got a bad word to say about it really. My CTR had alot of hammer and was bullet proof really, considering...LOL Especially the gearbox and engine... In standard form, my CTR was slightly quicker in a straight line (ran a 14.5 @ 97mph in it STANDARD). But now remapped the LCR is quicker, obviously. But not a MASSIVE amount..
In a nutshell, they are two different cars. Ones more fun than the other (CTR). But the LCR is alot better to drive in comfort... Depends what you want really... Do miss my CTR a bit though, have to say. Wish i could have both really...

14.3 is the quickest remapped R i have seen. They are hard to launch though, therefore the 1/4 mile figure doesn't give a good account of the cars pace.
