FR Fog Lights

Today I changed my fog lights from the standard h8 35w to h11 55w mtec super white 4350k, here is my guide to anyone who wants to change them on a Leon FR.

H11 to H8 adaptation

Snip the tab at the top to match the hH8 by making the tab a few mm thinner.

Driver’s side

To start with turn the steering wheel fully to the left then remove the three screws (with T25 screwdriver) down the edge of the wheel arch liner:

Reach in and disconnect the power then turn the bulb to remove.

The passenger side was a lot harder because of the windscreen washer bottle restricting access.

Turn the steering wheel fully to the right then remove the three screws (with T25 screwdriver) down the wheel arch liner and two from under the front of the wheel arch liner.

I needed to reach in from under the car to disconnect the power cable then in-between the wing and the wheel arch liner to turn the bulb to release it.

Still not the same colour as the LEDs but a lot better :) .

Non of these pics have loaded on my phone but that could be its fault not yours, but I'm curious, why adapt the bulbs, why can you just buy H8 mtecs?

The images on my post won't load because I haven't made 15 posts.
i couldn't find 55w H8 anywhere, I only seen 35w H8 and I was after bulbs that would be brighter not just whiter.

Isn't this a bit of a pointless exercise; the amount of fog thick enough to warrant the use of foglamps is minimal in the UK and surely there aren't any of those knobs that drive with foglamps on all year round on this forum!

No it’s mainly for the cornering function.

@GrahamFR, the name and they are sold for 'off road' & 'Show Purposes' only, gives the impression that they are blue, but they probably would be a closer match to the LEDs.

Are you sure you have cornering function with LED lights? Unless you have enabled it yourself via VCDS.

This looks complicated!! I like the LED ones though! Anyone found any that don't give error messages?

The only ones I can see on ebay have an extra wire with a resistor on it. Looks a bit weird!!

This was difficult!!! The drivers side was easy.. The passengers side? Well! I ended up having to jack the near side front up, unscrew the wheel arch from underneath and stick my arm up inside the tiny gap that created and do it completely blind. Took about an hour!!
