Urgent advice required please

Hi guys, I've just gone to check my oil and noticed it was between middle to low so thought best top up a little; opened oil cap and was greeted by this...

I've seen online that the tfsi can have condensation but this seems a bit extreme? Anything I can check to find what's the issue? Car has x3 weeks of warranty left so need to get resolved urgently if an issue

No dipstick appears fine mate. I know these engines can condensate on the cap but normally due to short journeys which I don't do? Its booked in this Friday for cambelt change so is it worth asking for a compression check to be safe?

Is the correct viscosity oil in it mate?

Sometimes putting the wrong oil in can result in the 'salad cream' effect shown in your pictures

I've only had the car for two months from Seat mate. They serviced it before I had it. However I checked the oil yday and found it towards the low mark so I've put some castrol edge 5w30 as a top up before it goes into the dealer this Friday. Seemed quite excessive oil consumption for only 2500 miles since serviced?

I'm going to check the coolant levels and hardness of pipes, clean the cap and then take her for a decent drive to see if it clears/returns

Is 5w30 the correct oil cfor your engine mate?

If it is then water might be getting into the oil, so yes, check your coolant levels etc

If I was you I wouldn't clean it off take it to the dealer as if they see it has an issue an say that's its nothing to worry bout then in 2 months the head gasket goes then as they have that fault recorded during warranty period then they will still cover it under warranty even if the cars out of warranty

Good advice above, I would also go staight back to the Garage before you get a slopey shoulder from the service manager.

mines looked like that. I'd say its normal.. I supose it's a little worrying because you say you dont do short journeys but if the water looks fine and the dipstick is fine then i think....... its probably fine

Took photos as you can see. Wiped clean and went for 30 mile trip and just checked again...only tiny amount visible?! Will get it mentioned at garage and ask for compression test to be done to get it on record (good advice cheers)

I'm sure 5w30 castrol edge is right for tfsi engines?!

Coolant levels are fine too

I got the same "cream", even more and I am using 5w40 oil.
After recommendations of SCN mates, I have driven longer trips (more than 10km) and "cream" disappeared.
Oil condensates when engine runs short trips, especially during winter

I've just checked the MIL's Golf Ed30 and that is the same with some on the dipstick too...that's an 58 plate with 25k miles so guessing its normal as that car is never driven in anger!! Lol

Agree.
Mine does it too, but only in winter (i drive mostly for short distances,4th gear being the top..)
