probably a repeat but need to get this solved pretty quick.

Need to get two new front tyres for my tdi Fr as the p-zero are pretty much gone now, and going on a long trip in a couple of days so would like to sort it out before then!

after bit of research i have think i have narrowed the choice down, (dont want budget tyres, looking to spend abour 180 for the pair tops!)

toyo T1-R--£156 all in

Falken Ziex ZE-912 --£130 all in

Toyo Proxes PX4--£155 all in

Yokohama PARADA SPEC 2 0---£160 all in

EAGLE F1 GSD3--£no quote online, but local tyre place said about £110 quid per tyre..

any others i should look into? or are these the main ones to consider?

I have Toyo T1-R's on mine and cant complain, much better than the previous P-Zeros in my opinion

first to reply....here is your gold star! :cartman:

have heard great things about the T1-r so think i may go for them, over 100 quid for the eagle F1GSD3 seems a lot...

I replaced my front p-zeros with Eagle F1s on my Cupra and I've been very happy, but I can't compare to Toyos as never used them. I've managed 22k so far, granted that's mainly motorway driving though. I'm needing all four replacing soonish and I reckon I'll stick with F1s even at £100 a corner.
I see you're in south east so try Elite in Essex if thats near you. They sorted my camber/tracking/caster too as I was getting uneven wear.

You didn't list what age FR you have, so unsure if you have 16's or 17's fitted, but black circles have -

205/45 R16 83W Eagle F1 GSD3's for £92 a corner fully fitted

- they don't have the 17's in stock.

They also do T1-R's for £78 all in (205/40R17) and £76 (205/45R16)

I can highly recommend black circles - I've used them a few time now and they're great - I always fit the GSD3's too and can't recommend them highly enough, although they are now discontinued so once stock reserves dry up - that's it.

sorry, meant to put it in at the end of my first post.

its 57 plate, so its 17's

yea black circle is where i got the prices from, so for the T1-r's its 156 for both fronts, but local place will match it and do for 150!

i would like to get GSD3's but they are quite expensive fopr the budget im on, was looking to spend maximum 180 for both

Hi

I've got Eagle F1's & found them much better than original Bridgestones. I'v got the 2.0tdi 140 Sport with Superchips remap & cope pretty well. I had a problem with tyre 'whine' but apparently was the alignment rather than tyres themselves.

Getting good wear although not a regular heavy driver although do have my moments!

I had 4 fitted by mobile dealer N & C Tyres 07860 579512 for £320 fitted (£80 per tyre).

Good luck.

www.e-tyres.co.uk are also pretty good - they're mobile fitters, although you do pay a tad more for the convenience

i'd go for the proxe-4's as they're supposedly improved version of T1Rs...they look a bit meaner too ;)

yea? what do you have nickyjam? you have the 5-door version of mine!

why would the improved versions by same price as the t1-r's?

Also can you put different sized tyres on? or does it always have to be 205/40/17?

lol...too many questions :)

i guess the T1Rs are more sought after and so they've kept them at the same price...i'm still running p-zero's but am moving up to 215/45's when mine are shot...you should have no problems with 215/45s. this will improve comfort and road noise as well as overall grip (should give a tad more rim protection as well)

aimez has highly recommended this size for tyres

i think camskill are doin them for £66 per tyre

88 quid a corner for the t1-rs in 215/45/17.....so about 176 all in

20 quid more than 205/40/17, is it worth it?

can anyone tell me what the wear is like on the toyo t1-r? or the proxo?

im hearing conflicting reports? internet says they are highly recommended? however, few people say they wear to quick?

they seem to be very reasonable so am swaying towards one of them

consider this mate...

people have said they only get 12k miles on their p-zero's and i'm nearly on this with loads of tread left...i believe it's really down to the way the car is driven. with the toyo's you should easily see 10-12k miles as their not the softest tyre
