Im after a picture of an FR/Cupra next to a non sporty ibiza  i want to see if there is actually a difference in height between them.

and is the suspension from an FR going to be better than whats on my SE at the moment?

ive got a picture somewhere of my 2006 sport next to my 2004 FR, not photo'd to compare height, but u can tell the FR is lower, i think anyway i'll see if i can find it.

my sig shows my 1.4 ibiza nose to nose with my mates FR. the wheels dosnt alter the height at all as it is using the same tyre size etc as the FR 205/45/17

I always said it was a myth that the FR was lower than other models.

IMO the only difference is in the firmness of the suspension

i could get you a pic of my fr and my sisters f/s but that would be pointless as from the front you can hardly tell the difference

The Cupra has a lower ride height and has the sports suspension. Not sure about FR

this is the best i can find. a photo of the back arch of my FR with the back arch of my Sport in the background, and a photo of the back arch of my Sport with the back arch of the FR in the background! Suppose what you ought to do is comare the foreground pic of the FR with the foreground pic of the Sport and see the differences in gap from tyre to arch.

of course theres a chance the handbrakes were on different tensions!

I wouldnt care, we now have a 1.2 Ref Sport, 1.9TDI Sport 130, and a 1.9TDI FR 130 in our household, i could line them all up and take some shots lol. Mines away having its face repaired tho :(

I'm pretty sure its just to do with the added weight of the bigger engine as with the Corsa SXi and SRi, my mates drive both and the SRi is lower by 15mm but has a 1.8, it is most likely that the springs/shock setup is firmer on the FR and not infact actually lower save for what is naturally caused by having a heavier/bigger engine.

It's not because of the engine weight. The 1.9 diesel FR and Cupra weigh more than the 1.8T FR and Cupra but the ride height wouldn't be different between them. The suspension is different on the Cupras, just read the reviews:

Interestingly, compared with the FR, the Cupra has shorter, stiffer shocks, a lower ride height and slightly thicker anti-roll bars but softer springs.

so the FR/cupra suspension would be a worthwhile upgrade on my current suspension as tbh it feels like jelly :(

Possibly, assuming you can buy the suspension cheap and fit it yourself (or again, cheap)...
Otherwise its a lot to pay in labour for a very minor difference!

You used to be able to buy the sports suspension option from Seat as an aftermarket item, not sure if you still can. It's alot stiffer than than the standard suspension, but you may want to fit the stiffer ARB too if you are doing this. Or you could just buy aftermarket suspension.
