sorry aout this - Tyres

Could do with some new front tyres, all my tyres are od and going to stick the best two on the back and put some new ones on the front as im not getting great traction now that the winter has set in, when the weather was good traction has been great. However Ive looked at a few posts and two of the tyres mentioned are

1. Goodyear Eagle F1's - However as far as I can tell there are a few variations of this tyre and I need an all year round tyre so I wont slide off the road in winter so not sure which is which.

2. Toyo T1R's

Are there any other good ones I should be looking at? Ive read a few bad reviews about the P-Zero's so I'll be avoiding them and got fed up in general with perelli's on my last two cars.

As I say I need all year round tyres that could do with being decent wearing as I do 20-25k a year but replacing them wouldnt be too much of a hardship. Performance (without paying over the odds) is my main concern. Size I should be looking for would also be a help 17" FR+ alloys.

On my LCR i've used p-zero's, falkens 452s, and dunlop sportmaxx's so far. the p-zeros were utter sh1te; falkens and dunlops both great imo, dunlops produce less road noise than the falkens, but are wearing faster.

had eagle f1 gsd3's on my lc same wheel as size as yours, they were brilliant. toyo's are bit squidgy, plus wear quick. thats my personal opinion,should be round about 100 ponds a corner, but i have to say if you want something that feels drives and holds and lasts go for either the new eagle f1 assymetrics or michelin pilot sport 2 both are awesome, trust me. :lol:

GSD3 here just had a pair on the front, still bedding them in.

I've tried GSD3 and p-zero on my Leon. GSD3 were excellent all round. P-zero (which I have on now and can't wait to get rid of) are very bad in the wet. Always wheel spinning and sliding with not even half throttle!
My next set will definately be the Goodyear eagle F1 Assymetrics! Excellent reviews and if theyre as good or better than the GSD3's I will be very happy!

IMO the choices are falkern or good year F1s. (GSD3 are the old version with the F1 style tread pattern) the new goodyear f1 assymetrics are the newer version.

I would say that the prices of these pretty much reflect what you will get. Ie falkerns are great value for money, but the GSD3s are a better tyre. From what i have seen, read and been told the assymetrics are an improvement again.

Pirellis are both expensive and poor.

Toyos were common a few years ago, still are, but no so. This probably reflects that there are better tyres around now and that they dont last well. Which has been my experience.

I've had my Falken 452s for 6 months now (I only do 10-100 miles per week) and they are great. Camskill delivered next day for peanuts

Are the GSD3's a good all year round tyre? Had a look and a measure today, one on the back is barely legal and the other is pretty much brand new, but a cheapo. On the front one has 4mm and one has a good 3mm. I'll easily get another few months out of these yet so not sure what to do, wheter to ditch an 'alright' tyre and get two good ones fitted to the front or back or just get one fitted to the back.

What does everyone think of getting new ones on the back as apposed to the front. Like I said im having no issuues with traction at the front and as far as ive always known you put your best tyres on the wheels which delived the power?

You should always put new tyres on the back; it is much easier to control understeer than oversteer...in theory!

TBh there isn't such a thing as an all year tyre on a heavy turbbo'd car.
The Leon on summer tyres in the snow is horrible and pretty much a waste of time.
To get the best and safest option buy Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetrics for the summer and Michelin Pilot Alpin 2's for the winter (or any other rated winter tyre).

The difference between a winter tyre and a summer tyre is massive in the snow. Your bumpers are expensive and I hope you value your life too. So additional cost for winter tyres is nothing compared to the consequenses

Check out black circles (www.blackcircles.com or .co.uk, cant remember) i got 2 goodyear F1s gsd3's for 140 fully fitted and balanced! Well happy with em good grip in the wet. still get a tad of wheelspin in the wet but i have a rather heavy right boot!
