Lower and stiffen LCR, options:

Want to lower it aprox 20mm and make it just that little stiffer so it dont sit down everytime I press the go pedal. Ive always thought coilovers is the only way, BUT understand theres spring kits. Have no knowlege of these...

Im not making a track car. Just need it that much lower and 1 click stiffer.

Whats better of coilovers or springkits and makes?

i would also like some information on this as i would like the same with mine just, dont want it to low or bumpy?

If you go with coilovers you will beable to adjust your ride height to what you want,but in realality you will probably leave it at the height you have them adjusted to when they are fitted.Performance wise coilovers are the best bet in my view but you will suffer a bit with ride comfort compared to say fsd/eibach spring kit.I chose coilovers and dont regret it but the ride is hard,this was my choice as i didnt want to compromise towards comfort,mine is lowered about 20mm and i can still get most places although front splitter scrapes.Combined with the other mods ive done ive probably made it a bit too hard for uk roads but if i had to spend the same money again id still go with coilovers.

So your saying a coilover kit will be like 2 clicks or more stiffer and a spring kit would equal 1 click? (lets just use clicks as a measurement here. Simplify)

i've got kw v1 coilovers, and personally i think the ride is softer than standard

coupled with front and rear ARBs and street density engine and dogbone mounts, and it's flat as a pancake round the twisties

would prefer a stiffer ride, so maybe i shoulda gone for v2's, but couldn't be doing with the tweaking

Eibach springs and FSD shock supposedly lower the LCR 15mm ish, improve the handling andget rid of the supposedly rubbish OEM shocks.
As above if you couple this with new engine, trans and DB mounts all will be well held and feelin good!!!

When you say spring kit are you just looking at changing springs and leaving standard dampers.I found standard dampers on LCR to be rough or crashy like when hitting a pot hole or similar,the coilovers ive got seem to be more controlled over holes but they make the ride way more stiffer than the standard set up.Depending on which kit you go for but i would say for me 2 clicks over standard set up.

Hmmm..... Im not gonna do engine, tranny mounts. Need to keep it as smuuth as possible while stiffening it up from stock setup. That setup with Eibach springs and FSD shocks is ballpark what Im looking for then?

You think coilovers is overkill for me?

If you want to keep the ride on the side of comfort then personally i would not go with coilovers and the fsd/eibach is a good compromise,your ride height will be lowered a fixed amount about 15mm as junior senior said.I looked at this set up before chosing coilovers as it has had good reviews.

Good advise... too many people buy coilovers, when what they actually want is a nice fixed drop well damped kit

The INA Street density engine and transmission mounts coupled with the Track density DBM give a very smooth controlled set up.
See my build thread below.
There is zero engine vibration in the cabin unlike the polyflex DBM vibrations. I have had both. The INA stuff is streets ahead of the polyflex in every way

Coilovers don't sound like what you want as these might give you more stiffness than you require

so for me as i want to keep the comfort of the ride but would want it a little lower i would be better of getting a spring kit, say eibach spring kit?

and appropriate dampers too - the std shocks are 'shocking'

Sounds to me like Im an Eibach/ FSD setup kinda guy. How much stiffer over stock will this be? Are we talking about the "one click" stiffer mod Im looking for or waaat?

Im sure theres a vast selection of springs and shocks in all sorts of different stiffnes settings...

Eibach springs and Koni FSD shocks.
These are popular with those in your situation but if you want the best handling feel out of your car the FSD's are supposed to make the ride feel numb when pushing it.
