Which turbo to go for...

Right ive been going through the search function for about 5 hours yesterday/today and its not really got me anywhere just confsued me some more...

At the moment im running, Revo stage 2, 4.0 bar FPR, Forge front mount, Forge Split R, Forge TIP, Blueflame turbo back system and race CAT, BMC CDA Filter, N249 Bypass and N75 race valve, Stock KO3.

Ive been told i should be running around 200 - 210 bhp and a fair wack of torque.

Cart drives great but the problem im having if you can call it a problem is at around 2k it will hit 22 - 26psi all day long, but by 6.1k ish its down to 10 psi, i know theres always going to be a drop but what turbo would i be best of buying to solve this. I dont want to have to uprate internals and would prefer a turbo that will run safely on standard manifold and revo stage 2 map.

Your problem is your running stage 2 on a k03, you really need to stick a k03s on there mate. Will hold boost quite a bit longer. K03s is a straight swap for your k03 and you already have all the right mods to go with it.

Cool, been told to get one of those mk4 air filter kits and wack a green filter on there.

with a Ko3s what will i see it holding around 6k ? 4 or 6 psi more or is that hoping for to much , i love the power, it just dies off to quickly

k03s runs out of puff too, I really doubt you'd see more than 15psi at 6k revs.

k03s should hold on slightly longer... but it too will fall away at the top end. (its still a small turbo)
instead of falling off to sub 10psi top end it will try and hold 12-13psi before its completely out of puff. Bare in mind its flat out at these levels pumping lots of heat into your induction.

but why do you want more boost up top and rev the nuts of it?

just change gear and use the torque lower down the rev range!!!

true chungster, im used to high reving cars, saxo VTS , 306 rallye etc, however did have a 170 bhp punto turbo but that seemed to pull right through the revs and hardly tain off seemed to hold a good 18pis or so.

consider a k03s hybrid then.... along the lines of k04 internals in the k03s housing. 1.2bar to limiter possible then.. ~£1200 for one of these however. (remap/injectors/S3 MAF housing will likely be required)

1.8t motor loves to rev when its derestricted of its small turbo/manifold/DP combo.

Well downpipe is uprated, so its just turbo and manifold then i suppuse, would i see much gains if i uprate to a ATP manifold and Ko3s

After owning a motorbike i can see why people like to rev the nuts off an engine!

so much so I've been thinking about a JDM Honda Civic Type R as next car...8400rpm rev limit lol.

Just not sure how much i'll miss the boost and the torque a Turbo'd motor provides.

I wouldnt bother with a k03s, you might as well just save up and get something worth it.

Id be willing to save up and spend about 1k or so but for that i dont think i can get much, dont want to spend much more than that on it.

After running one for the last few months im with phil on this there not really worth the hassle (k03s) I wish i had saved up and gone GT2X as thats a bigger turbo and will see you around 280bhp and 300lb/ft. Just need to uprate the injectors and a 3" maf and also the TIP IIRC.

Sorry to drag this post back up but do you need new oil lines for the gt2x as you do with the K04 or will the standard ones suffice?

The GT2X comes with all the stuff you need to fit it, so yeah that includes oil lines.

Reason i went for it was that i didnt know as much about turbos as i do now, if i did, i would have more than likly gone gt2x or even bigger. I think k03s mapped right could be 'OK' but im not confident that revo stg2 is up to it. (which i run)
