LCR performance

Surrey darling...
I was helping out down at my mates rolling road yesterday with a remap on an FTO and we had a bit of time left after the session so we decided to chuck the LCR on the rollers to see how it's doing!

At the moment it's a standard 55 plate LCR with nearly 24K on the clock so I was expecting to get in the region of book figures - but how often do they really represent real life performance?

So with a tank of BP Ultishit unleaded in there I wasn't expecting miracles but it produced 224.4hp with about 216lb/ft torque and a touch over 180hp at the wheels - so all in all I'm very happy as it looks like a good strong engine and is performing exactly as it should! I just need to get some new front pads and a replacement windscreen for it now

I'm planning to get it remapped in the next month or 2 and will report back how it does against this bench mark as soon as I can... my only concern at this stage is with my manufacturers warranty - will a remap effect it much or is it better to wait?

Surrey Rolling Road is based near Chobham so is nice and local to many of you and I thoroughly recommend them (I don't work there but am good friends with the owner - Charlie). More information about them can be found at www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk

I'm also planning to set up a rolling road day for early October - I'm a mod on The Corrrado Forum so have already started gauging interest on there but plan to open it up to the Leon forum too once I have a confirmed date (and providing this doesn't break any rules on here?)

Yeah I appreciate that it's a can of worms mate... although in SRR's defence I would say that they're accurate - mainly for 2 reasons:

They have a Dyno Dynamics road - which from what I understand is widely regarded as one of the best RR setups available! It was close enough to book figures with my car that I have every reason to believe it's fairly accurate don't you think?

and secondly they are completely independent so don't have anything to prove - i.e. no over reading to show a customer the 'massive' power gains that they have just spent several hundred pounds on...

At the end of the day the only really accurate way to measure engine out put is at the engine!

Realistically, getting the dyno plots done yesterday serves no other purpose other than to act as a bench mark to help me gauge any future modifications but it's good fun all the same :)

Its good practice, and something that so many people (including myself) forget to do. If you can't see the start point for your bhp - torque, how do you know what effect what kit your adding is having. Good that its reading bang on the nail too, as you know you are starting with a healthy car before you begin. Remapping etc.. can put a fair strain on some of the stock components so its good to know is all well.

I would def be up for a RR session, just had mine mapped with C-C ph.1, not sure anyone has RR'ed one on this map yet?

Think you just posted on my other thread lol, get a C-C ph.1 mate i think you'll like it!

Actually i know you'll like it! ;)

Edit to add: Dyno dynamics are always spot on mate, wouldn't use anything else now

Nice one - I have a good contact that used to be a part of AMD who should be doing the re-map shortly... just need to save some pennies!

RR day will be booked for one weekend at the begining of October so will keep you posted :D

Is it a generic or custom map your looking at bud? with a custom map your car's set up to how you want it and tested on the rolling road (i think). Got mine done by performance torque up in wolverhampton.

Map is very good as its not as aggresive as a revo and gives you even power through the rev range up to the red line.
